Vivekachudamani 62

na gacchati vina panam vyadhi rausadha sabdatah |
vina'paroksa anubhavam brahma sabdairna mucyate ||
(Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 62)

A disease is not cured by merely repeating the name of the medicine, without taking it. Similarly, without direct realization, none can be liberated by a mere utterance of the word 'Brahman.‘

Mahārāja Prahlāda informed his classmates about the all-pervasiveness of the Supreme Lord. But although the Supreme Lord is all-pervasive by means of His expansions and His energies, that does not mean He has lost His personality.

We get this information from Vedic literature. There is no way to understand what is taking place on other planets except to hear from authorized sources. In modern civilization we accept scientists as authorities in these matters. We hear a scientist say, “We have seen the moon; it is such and such,” and we believe it. We have not gone with the scientist to see the moon, but we believe him.

So by repeating the name of medicine one cannot cure a disease similarly without taking guidance from Vedas we cannot understand the Lord, When we do not understand the Lord we cannot realize or surrender. When we can't able to realize then there is no chance for liberation.

Suatu penyakit tidak disembuhkan dengan hanya mengulangi nama obatnya, tanpa meminumnya. Demikian pula, tanpa realisasi langsung, tidak ada yang bisa dibebaskan hanya dengan ucapan 'Brahman.'

Mahārāja Prahlāda memberi informasi kepada teman-teman sekelasnya tentang segala hal yang meluas dari Tuhan Yang Maha Esa. Tetapi meskipun Tuhan Yang Maha Besar meliputi segala hal melalui ekspansi dan energi-Nya, itu tidak berarti Ia telah kehilangan kepribadian-Nya.

Kami mendapatkan informasi ini dari literatur Veda. Tidak ada cara untuk memahami apa yang terjadi di planet lain kecuali mendengar dari sumber resmi. Dalam peradaban modern kita menerima ilmuwan sebagai otoritas dalam masalah ini. Kami mendengar seorang ilmuwan berkata, “Kami telah melihat bulan; ini adalah ini dan itu, ”dan kami percaya itu. Kami tidak pergi dengan ilmuwan untuk melihat bulan, tetapi kami percaya padanya.

Jadi dengan mengulangi nama obat seseorang tidak dapat menyembuhkan penyakit yang sama tanpa mengambil bimbingan dari Veda kita tidak dapat memahami Tuhan, Ketika kita tidak memahami Tuhan kita tidak dapat menyadari atau menyerah. Ketika kita tidak bisa menyadari maka tidak ada kesempatan untuk pembebasan.

ஒரு நோயை மருந்தின் பெயரை மட்டும் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளாமல், குணப்படுத்த முடியாது. இதேபோல், நேரடி உணர்தல் இல்லாமல், 'பிரம்மம்' என்ற வார்த்தையின் வெறுமனே உச்சரிப்பதன் மூலம் யாரையும் விடுவிக்க முடியாது.

மஹாராஜா பிரஹ்லதா தனது வகுப்பு தோழர்களுக்கு உச்ச இறைவனின் பரவலான தன்மையைப் பற்றி தெரிவித்தார். ஆனால், உயர்ந்த இறைவன் அவருடைய விரிவாக்கங்கள் மற்றும் அவரது ஆற்றல்களின் மூலம் பரவலாக இருந்தாலும், அவர் தனது ஆளுமையை இழந்துவிட்டார் என்று அர்த்தமல்ல.

இந்த தகவலை வேத இலக்கியங்களிலிருந்து பெறுகிறோம். அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட மூலங்களிலிருந்து கேட்பதைத் தவிர மற்ற கிரகங்களில் என்ன நடக்கிறது என்பதைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள வழி இல்லை. நவீன நாகரிகத்தில் விஞ்ஞானிகளை இந்த விஷயங்களில் அதிகாரிகளாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறோம். ஒரு விஞ்ஞானி சொல்வதைக் கேட்கிறோம், “நாங்கள் சந்திரனைக் கண்டோம்; இது போன்றது, "என்று நாங்கள் நம்புகிறோம். சந்திரனைப் பார்க்க விஞ்ஞானியுடன் நாங்கள் செல்லவில்லை, ஆனால் நாங்கள் அவரை நம்புகிறோம்.

எனவே மருத்துவத்தின் பெயரை மீண்டும் சொல்வதன் மூலம் வேதங்களிலிருந்து வழிகாட்டுதல்களை எடுக்காமல் இதேபோல் ஒரு நோயை குணப்படுத்த முடியாது, நாம் இறைவனைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியாது, இறைவனைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளாதபோது நம்மால் உணரவோ சரணடையவோ முடியாது. நாம் உணர முடியாதபோது விடுதலைக்கு வாய்ப்பு இல்லை.
