manda madhyama rupa pi vairagyena samadina |
prasadena guroh seyam pravrddha suyate phalam ||
(Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 28)

Even though slight or moderate, this longing for liberation may bear fruit through the grace of the Guru and through detachment, calmness of mind etc.

What is the supreme perfection of human life? To attain Love of Godhead. Who is Godhead? Sankaracarya repetitively said Govinda. The Supreme Lord is there, His Name is there, His mantra is there. They all have descended in this material world, incarnated here. By the mercy of acharya or guru, one can able to understand the Supreme Lord.

The real duty of the guru is to make sure one understands the glories of the Lord. In seeking a more permanent and satisfactory solution for the mind is to concentrate it upon Viṣṇu by the mercy of bonafide guru. The peacefulness for the mind is the Supreme Lord. Our minds cannot be happy with material things or temporary pleasure.

If we realize this then there is no place for distress and misery in our life. Start to learn about real gurus such as Sankaracarya, Ramanucarya, Madvacarya, and Mahaprabhu, do not waste time with magical gurus and healing gurus. They will not help you to go back to the Supreme Lord.
