Vivekachudamani 36

(Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 36)

I am burning in the blazing infernal fire of this world-forest; I am being tossed around by the cruel storms of misfortune; I am terrified (within and without)—O Lord! save me from death; I have taken refuge in you, for I know no other shelter.

The Vedas explains that the soul in the material world transmigrates within a cycle of material birth and death through 8,400,000 forms of life. The human form, however, is the only birth which affords one, the chance for spiritual realization. Species lower than humans are not endowed with sufficient intelligence to understand the soul as different from the body.

All have to take birth as a grass, shrub, worm, tree, all kind of beast, bird, snake, stone, demon, servant of devas. Soul also has to take birth within immobile and mobile forms of life. After taking various birth finally are having this human body. The only birth which gives us all the intelligence to understand the Supreme Lord. In this human body we are also stuck in the material pressure, worldly attraction, fake gurus, eating sinful food and finally we are forgetting the purpose of birth.

Even the great guru Sankaracarya is saying that he is misfortune, he is praying with full heart to the Lord Govinda to save him from birth and death.

Sankaracarya composed a song

bhajagovindaṁ bhajagovindaṁ govindaṁ bhajamūḍhamate |
samprāpte sannihite kāle nahi nahi rakśati ḍukṛñkaraṇe ||

Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda. Oh fool! Rules of Grammar will not save you at the time of your death.

He has mentioned worship Govinda three times and there is no other way (nahi nahi). Let us take his advice and surrender to the Supreme Lord Govinda which is the only one who can save all of us.
