Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 408

अनन्यत्वमधिष्ठानादारोप्यस्य निरीक्षितम् ।
पण्डितै रज्जुसर्पादौ विकल्पो भ्रान्तिजीवनः ॥

ananyatvamadhiṣṭhānādāropyasya nirīkṣitam |
paṇḍitai rajjusarpādau vikalpo bhrāntijīvanaḥ ||
(Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 408)

The wise have observed that the superimposition is identical with its substratum—just like the rope and the snake. The distinction exists only due to delusion.

An intelligent person will see the Supreme Lord as the base of all creation. He will not think that there is another God. There is a difference between a rope and a snake. We should not be in illusion to underestimate the Supreme Lord. Therefore we should come to the platform of bhakti.
