Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 474

भवानपीदं परतत्त्वमात्मनः

स्वरूपमानन्दघनं विचार्य ।

विधूय मोहं स्वमनःप्रकल्पितं

मुक्तः कृतार्थो भवतु प्रबुद्धः ॥

bhavānapīdaṃ paratattvamātmanaḥ

svarūpamānandaghanaṃ vicārya |

vidhūya mohaṃ svamanaḥprakalpitaṃ

muktaḥ kṛtārtho bhavatu prabuddhaḥ |

You too, discriminating thus, be established in this surpassing Truth, the real nature of the Self which is Bliss Absolute, and shaking off the delusion created by your own mind, be liberated and illumined and fulfill your destiny.

Our goal in this human life is to reach the Lotus Feet of the Lord or Mukuntha. But we are forgetting our natural goal and trying to enjoy this world as much as we can. All those mundane enjoyments will end in distress and misery. We are discriminating and putting ourselves in trouble. All the problems which we are facing in this world caused by ourselves. The soul is blissful and it can be happy only when we come in contact with the Lord. To come closer with the Lord, we need a bonafide guru but even by having a misguided conception, people are running after bogus gurus. By our own wrongdoings, we have to suffer again and again. We have learned our Vedas and accept our literature as a higher authority in our lives. That will give you a better understanding of the spiritual life before grabbing the wrong guru.
