Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 428

स्थितप्रज्ञो यतिरयं यः सदानन्दमश्नुते ।
ब्रह्मण्येव विलीनात्मा निर्विकारो विनिष्क्रियः ॥

sthitaprajño yatirayaṃ yaḥ sadānandamaśnute |
brahmaṇyeva vilīnātmā nirvikāro viniṣkriyaḥ ||
(Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 428)

That person of steady wisdom, having merged oneself in Brahman enjoys everlasting Bliss, without modification, and freed from all activity.

A person who accepts the path of devotional service is not bereft of the results derived from studying the Vedas, performing sacrifices, undergoing austerities, giving charity, or pursuing philosophical and fruitive activities. Simply by performing devotional service, he attains all these, and at the end, he reaches the supreme eternal abode.

Pratyahara, or withdrawing the senses from the sense objects. Sense organs for acquiring knowledge, such as the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and touch, should be fully controlled and should not be allowed to engage in self-gratification. In this way, the mind focuses on the Supersoul in the heart and the life force is raised to the top of the head. In the Sixth Chapter, this process is described in detail. But as mentioned before, this practice is not practical in this age. The best process is bhakti. If one is always able to fix his mind on Krsna in devotional service, it is very easy for him to remain in an undisturbed transcendental trance, or in samadhi.
