(Sankaracarya's Vivekachudamani 415)
Once the body has been cast off as a corpse, the wise person has no attachment to it, though, like a shadow, it is still visible as appearance, owing to the effects of past actions.
A soul which is directly connected to the Supreme Lord has no connection with the temporary body. All of us are trying to make the temporary body that given to us as a permanent entity. This body is given especially to human beings to realize the Supreme Personality of Godhead. We are just becoming attached to the body accept the Lord.
Once the soul leaves the body, the intelligent soul has no more attachment to the dead body. Here it's mention the soul is intelligent because the soul is brilliant which belongs to the Lord.
But for those who are seeing the dead body, we still cry and think about the body than the soul. Although it's still appear in front of us but it has no value without the brilliant soul.
