Tirupathi Sri Venketeswara Story and Mahatyam
Maha Vishnu arrives in Bhuloka searching Lakshmi
When Lakshmi left Vaikuntha planet, it was left with poverty. There was no pleasure or pomp. The inhabitants were quite unhappy. They approached Maha Vishnu and appealed that Lakshmi should some how be brought back to Vaikunta.
Maha Vishnu was helpless, he did not understand what to do. He was perplexed. He left Vaikuntha for Bhuloka(earth) in search of his dear, He ran helter skelter. He climbed the hills, rushed to the forest. he searched and searched tirelesslywithout food or sleep. he could not find her.
Crying Lakshmi, Lakshmi and running hither and thither, up and down he querried peacocks, monkeys, animals birds, elephants, lions, bears, and etc. Whether they had any time, any where seen his Lakshmi.
Feeling tired and fatigued and getting no hints of Lakshmi's where abouts, Sri Hari at last reached Tirupati and under the shade of a Tamarind tree He took shelter in a Valmikam (Ant hill) at the Adi Varaha's Shrine. He sat in meditation praying for the return of His dear wife, Lakshmi.
