Hunter's unconditional devotion

Long ago in one of the forests on the way to Venkatachalam there lived a hunter by the name 'Vasuvu'. He had a wife named Chitravati. He was a great devotee. He used to get some bamboo corn, honey, roots and etc from the forest and give to his wife. After the corn was cooked by her purity, they used to place them before a huge rock treating it to be Lord Venkateswara.

After some time Chitravati became pregnant. She gave birth to a male child. He was names as Suveera. They brought up the child affectionately. He grew up gradually. He excelled his parents in devotion.

One day Vasuvu who went for hunting did not return home in time. So, Suveera went to his mother and asked her to cook the rabbit's meat, which he got by hunt that day. After she cooked the meat Suveera offered the same to the Lord, thinking that the Lord would not bear the hunger till his father's return, and began to eat.

Meanwhile, Vasus returned from hunting. He came to know of the offering of meat to the Lord by his son. He felt that the sactity had been lost by that offering. So he grew angry at his son and was about to cut his head with a knife.

The Lord appeared immediately and prevented Vasuvu doing so. He said, Vasuvu, your son is a greater devotee than you. I consider only the devotion which is important and not the meat.

Vasuvu begged pardon of the Lord. The lord was pleased and blessed him with liberation.

(The moral of the story is telling about the unconditional devotion which Suveera had. There was a great devotee of Shiva offered pork but it is not for us to do. Our dharma forbid this. Even the Lord said he saw only the devotion and not the meat. So meat is not recommended)
