Tirupathi Sri Venketeswara Story and Mahatyam Part 30

Srinivasa received loan from Kubera

We know, Srimannarayana left Vaikuntam and reached the earth. After some time Narada met him at Seshachalam and saluted him. Srinivasa offered him an appropriate seat. He occupied the seat. He told Srinivasa that in Tretha yuga he gave word to Vedavati that he would marry her in Kaliyuga and that time had arrived to fulfil that promise. He added that he was feeling glad to witness the marriage.

Srinivasa was not having any money. He was worried as to how he could get the required amount for the marriage. He told Narada that since Lakshmi was not living with him he became poor and he was unable to find out ways and means to make up the money needed.

Narada said, "Padmanabha, why do you worry?
You can obtain any amount from Kubera as loan."

That was a good and timely suggestion thought Srinivasa. He immediately ordered Garuda to go and bring Kubera before him. Garuda did so.

Narada said to Kubera, "You know that Srinivasa's marriage with Padmavati has been fixed to be celebrated on Sukla Dasami day of Vaishaka month. I request you therefore, to help Srinivasa with the money needed for the marriage."

Unhesitatingly Kubera lent Srinivasa 3364 crores of Rama coins and obtained a Bond for that sum from him. The Bond was witnessed by Brahma, Maheshwar and Aswarhama.

Srinivasa promised to pay Kubera only interest till the end of Kaliyuga and clear the principal immediately there after.

Both Narada and Kubera were satisfied. They took leave of Srinivasa and left the place happily.
