Tirupathi Sri Venketeswara Story and Mahatyam Part 43
Vakula Devi adorns Srinivasa's neck as Tulasi garland
As Srinivasa and Padmavathi who went for a stroll in the garden did not return for long, Vakula Devi with the help of Govindaraju arrived Ananda Nilayam only to find Srinivasa in the form of a deity. She pathetically cried "Srinivasa."
She could then hear from the deity these words
"O, mother, I am blessing you Mukthi. You adorn my neck in the form of a Thulasi garland." She immediately went round Srinivasa's neck as a garland of Tulasi beads.
From that day onwards the Lord is worshipped with Tulasi petals, which he likes most dearly.
