Water deities or gods associated with water are very common in every mythology all around the world. Many other legends and myths tell about different kind of creatures - Oannes (Mesopotamia), Scylla (Greece), Sirens (Greece), one of the incarnation of Vishnu - Matsya (India), etc. Is it possible these bizarre creatures with fishtails actually existed or is it only a symbolism? Were they gods, monsters, or priests?
