Who is an Ideal Devotee?
This is explained in detail by Bhagawan SreeKrishna in Chapter 12, Shlokas 13-20 of the Gita. The ideal devotee (Bhakta) should…
- no hate any living being
- cultivate friendship and compassion
- be free from weakness of mind
- not be afraid of anyone, and none in the world should fear him/her
- be unmoved by happiness or misery
- be pure and efficient
- be forgiving
- strive for self-control
- always be content with what he/she has
- have a strong determination
- surrender his/her mind and intellect to God.
- desire nothing
- be free from elation, anger, fear, and turbulence of mind
- give up the feeling of "I and Mine"
- develop an attitude of mind that rejects good as well as bad things
- be indifferent to what befalls him/her
- free from the feeling that he/she is an independent agent
- have no feeling of elation and enmity or desire
- have no attachments and should accept pain and pleasure, honor and disgrace, heat and cold equally as his/her portion
- look upon friends and foes alike
- not indulge in idle talk
- not attached to any fixed abode
- be steadfast in mind.
……. Even though it is difficult to achieve all these qualities, a true devotee should try to cultivate all these qualities in His life... By continuously chanting Bhagawan's Keerthans…By continuously hearing Bhagawan’s avatar leelas…. By continuously doing his Aarathis………. A TRUE DEVOTEE automatically becomes an IDEAL DEVOTEE.. All these mentioned qualities will automatically come to HIM……Surrender yourself to his lotus feet ….. . It is such a 'Bhakta' that is dear to Sri Krishna. And most important of all, those Bhaktas are most dear to God who loves him with full faith in his supremacy … Sreekrishnarppanamasthu……………….Jay Sree Krishna….
