Temple History: Maharshi Mangalya, born in Uthiram star, was the Acharya in the marriage of Sage Agasthya and Sage Vsishta and Bhairava. The whole power of his penance was in his fore palms. He is the authority for all Akshada (rice coated with turmeric being sprayed on couples and while blessing others) angels flying in the air with garlands. The custom of printing wedding invitations nowadays with the pictures of these deities came into practice based on this story.
