Valmiki ashram in Bithoor

Once upon a time Lava and Kusa (Lord Rama's Sons) tied Hanuman on the tree (pic). After the coronation of Lord Rama, he was busy with Ashwamedha yajna, All the horses for the purpose of yajna need to be taken care of by someone. According to the law, the horses should go around the Bharatha Desa and come back to the right place without any disturbance. It is considered as the yajna was puranam (complete).

Lava and Kusa tight a few horses in the Valmiki ashram. Lord Rama sent some powerful heroes to bring back the horses. Unfortunately, all of them lost with powerful Lava and Kusa. Finally, Hanuman came to rescue the horses. When he saw Lava and Kusa he fell in love with the sons of Lord Rama. Both Children captured Hanuman and tied him on this tree so that they can play with the monkey.

Later Lava and Kusa told their mother Sita that they captured a monkey to play with. Mother Sita was upset with the kids and she told Hanuman is not a monkey. If he is not there, I wouldn't be back in Ayodhya. She also told the whole story about Hanuman to Lava and Kusa.

This tree is there from the time of Lord Rama. It is said that this tree is a miracle. Where every time a new tree grows from inside of the trunk. This is a holy place mentioned in Ramayana.
