Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple

Lord Vinayaka is a swayambumurthy. This is one of the biggest temples. The well from where Lord Ganapathi appeared is still in existence in the temple. The water from the well is offered as Prasad to devotees. There is also a Nagar (Snake) shrine in the temple, worshipped by the devotees for relief from snake aspects.

Devotees perform milk abishek for relief from prolonged diseases and for solutions for problems among couples, money matters etc. They also perform Ganapathi Homam for which they have to register in advance.

Every evening an event called Satya Pramanam is conducted in the temple. Those accused of cheating others on money matters and cheating women are asked to depose before the Lord if they are really innocent. No one can escape punishment awarded by Lord Vinayaka if they dare speak lies. Andhra devotees regard Kanipakkam Vinayaka as their Chief Justice.

Temple History: There lived in this place three brothers who could not see, hear or speak. They were farmers. They could not do the job in a coordinated manner as they could not understand the signs of the other. Lord took pity on them.

The brothers were drawing water from a well here. They could not get water as it dried. So they dug further. Blood began to ooze out from a corner. People found a Vinayaka in a pool of blood. Despite their efforts, they could not pull Lord Vinayaka out. They performed abishek to Lord in the well with thousands of green coconuts which flowed through the Kani land. Hence, the place is named Kanipakkam. People built a temple around the well itself. The present temple was built after many years.
